Mondays, 3:30 – 4:15

Ages 4-6: Kindergarten Readiness

A music therapy group designed to facilitate group interaction, communication and socialization. Through singing songs, making beats, exploring different instruments and recording their creations, children on the autism spectrum will work on various goals to address skills required in the classroom. Skill development includes: awareness of others, turn-taking, appropriate play, following directions, smooth transitions, letter and number identification and coordination of gross and fine motor patterned movement. Feel free to contact us directly to consult with our music therapist.

Mondays, 4:30 – 5:15

Ages 7-9: Early Elementary

A music therapy group designed to facilitate group interaction, communication and socialization. A continuation of the Kindergarten Readiness group, the Early Elementary Music Therapy group will continue to use songs, rhythms, improvisation and recording to address classroom etiquette, group awareness, reduce social anxiety, increase tolerance to “hard learning”, and increase emotional expression and regulation, all the while having fun developing their musical selves. Children will engage in both playing and singing along to established songs, while also working on writing their own music. Composition will focus on memory recall and emotional labeling. Children will finish the eight-week sessions with a recording of their accomplishment. Please contact us directly to consult with our music therapist.
