Beginner Piano

Get a head start on piano lessons for September! Total beginners to students with one-year of experience will enjoy learning the piano in a fun group environment. Students will practice note and rhythm reading through fun games and challenges as well as gain hands-on experience at the keyboard. Register here.

 

Beginner Ukulele

July 9 - 13, 9:00 - 12:00

Ages 7-10

Combine with Beginner Piano for a full day program (lunch supervision provided)

Learn the basics of ukulele in a fun group ensemble! Beginners will learn basic strumming and picking techniques and will build their repertoire of simple songs. Students are required to provide their own ukulele. Please contact a SAM administrator if you are having difficulty sourcing an instrument. We are happy to help! Register here.

Creative Photography: Character, Narrative, and Movement

July 16-20, 9:00 - 3:00

Instructor: Kyra Kelpin

Ages 10 - 15

$270 + $30 supply fee

Join us for a week of pure photographic fun! We will focus on the technical, and the creative. Starting with the creation of dynamic photographic images, using DSLR cameras, IPhoto and Photoshop.  Students will also explore bookbinding and fill their hand made visual journals with photography and printmaking. This week will be focused around the use of DSLR cameras. DSLR cameras are recommended for the class, but owning one is not mandatory. Register here.


Early Musicianship

July 30 - August 3, 9:00 - 12:00

Combine with Sing Out for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

This camp is perfect for young children who love to sing and dance, or who would like to get a head start on skills needed for private lessons. Early Childhood Music classes are designed at SAM to form a strong foundation for future music study and enjoyment. Participants in this class will have fun developing their sense of pitch and rhythm through songs, rhymes, movement, singing games, and exploration of simple instruments. We will listen to various pieces of music and respond with drawing and movement. Participants will also be introduced to basic musical notation. Register here.


Sing Out

July 30 - August 3, 12:30 - 3:30

Come and sing with us! Students will spend the week working together as a vocal ensemble, learning the basics of vocal technique and performance etiquette. Students will build musicianship through practicing rounds, partner songs and simple harmonies. This ensemble will learn a variety of repertoire from pop songs to traditional favourites to be performed at the end of the week. Register here.


Beginner Violin

August 20 - 24,  9:00 - 12:00

Learn the basics of violin in a fun group ensemble! This class is an introduction to the violin and does not require any previous experience. Students need to provide their own violin. Please speak to a SAM administrator if you need help sourcing an instrument. Register here.


Sing Together

August 20-24, 12:30 - 3:30

Introduction to Composition and Music Production

August 27 - August 31, 9:00 - 12:00

Instructor: Max Konyi

Ages 9-14

Combine with Rock Band for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

$155

Students will explore music creation both through traditional song writing techniques and by interacting with music production software. Students will work both individually, and collaboratively to create music that will be showcased to family and friends at the end of the week. Participants will use loops and samples to create their own music while gaining an understanding of the how to refine their sound in music production software. Participants will also explore harmony, chord progressions, and lyric writing as they explore traditional approaches to song writing and composition. Students are encouraged to bring a laptop with music production software such as garage band, as well as guitars or any other instrument they play, however no tools or instruments are required. Experienced musicians are encouraged to participate, but beginners are also welcome. Register here.


Rock Band

August 27 - August 31, 12:30 - 3:30

Combine with Intro to Music Production and Composition for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

Experience the exciting and creative process of selecting music, creating arrangements, performing, recording and becoming a band. Musicians (including vocalists) will learn the subtleties of working with an ensemble and have fun jamming with other musicians. A minimum of 2 years experience on their instrument is recommended, but all levels and abilities are welcome. Participants will receive personalized instruction and find their place in the band. Repertoire will be selected based on student interest and won’t necessarily be strictly rock. The group will explore their musical style and preference to work towards a performance at the end of the week. Guitarists and bassists should bring their own instrument to camp. Drummers, singers, guitar players, and keyboardists are welcome! Register here.


BOB 1 Week Musical Theatre Camp FULL

July 23rd - 27th , 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

BOB 3 Week Musical Theatre Intensive FULL

This three week intensive camp develops skills singing, acting, and dancing through classes taught by professional instructors. This intensive program builds an incredible amount of skills and confidence in only three weeks and culminates in a full scale musical production at the Eagle Eye Theatre.
