Beginner Ukulele FULL

July 10 - 14, 9:00 - 12:00

Ages 6-10

$145 for half day program

Combine with Explore Percussion for a full day program (lunch supervision provided)

Learn the basics of ukulele in a fun group ensemble! Beginners will learn basic strumming and picking techniques and will build their repertoire of simple songs. Explore Percussion FULL

July 10 - 14, 12:30 - 3:30

Ages 6-10 

$140 for half day program

Combine with Beginner Ukulele for a full day program (lunch supervision provided)

This fun and creative camp will build students' musicianship and introduce them to a variety of percussive forms. Students will explore hand drums, drum kit, and found instruments as they build basic technique. Students will be challenged to play in parts and layers, improvise, and learn new rhythms and beat patterns. All levels are welcome. This class is appropriate for total beginners to experience percussionists. Add your name to the waitlist here.


3 Week Musical Theatre Intensive FULL

July 10 - 28, 9:00 - 4:00

Ages 7-17

$620 for full day program

This three week intensive camp develops skills singing, acting, and dancing through classes taught by professional instructors. This intensive program builds an incredible amount of skills and confidence in only three weeks and culminates in a full scale musical production at the Eagle Eye Theatre. Creative Photography: Character, Narrative, and Movement FULL

July 17-21, 9:00 - 3:00

Ages 9 - 15

$270 + $30 supply fee for full day program

Join us for a week of pure photographic fun! We will focus on the technical, and the beautiful.  Creating dynamic and creative photographic images using DSLR cameras, IPhoto and Photoshop.  Six specific topics will be covered, but creativity outside of the program layout will be greatly encouraged. Participants will also record their week in a sketchbook with written reflections, and short drawing lessons that reflect and reinforce the photographic lessons. Topics of study include landscape, close-up photography, documentary/candid photography, and lighting. Photographers will colloborate with BOB's summer production to work with actors to capture movement and character on stage. Bringing a camera is encourated but not necessary. Register here

 

1 Week BOB Summer Camp FULL

July 24-28, 9:00 - 3:00

In one week, students in the camp will learn singing, acting, and dancing skills through games and exercises. At the end of the week, the class will perform a mini musical at the Eagle Eye theatre.  Add your name to the waitlist here.


Early Musicianship 

July 31 - August 4, 9:00 - 12:00

Ages 5-7

Combine with Sing Out for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

This camp is perfect for young children who love to sing and dance, or who would like to get a head start on skills needed for private lessons. Early Childhood Music classes are designed at SAM to form a strong foundation for future music study and enjoyment. Children in this class will have fun developing their sense of pitch and rhythm through songs, rhymes, movement, singing games, and exploration of simple instruments. We will listen to various pieces of music and respond with drawing and movement. Children will also be introduced to basic musical notation. Register here


Sing Out FULL

July 31 - August 4, 12:30 - 3:30

Ages 5-8

Come and sing with us! Students will spend the week working together as a vocal ensemble, learning the basics of vocal technique and performance etiquette. Students will build musicianship through practicing rounds, partner songs and simple harmonies. This ensemble will learn a variety of repertoire from pop songs to traditional favourites to be performed at the end of the week. Register here


Beginner Guitar

August 14 - 18, 9:00 - 12:00

Instructor: Max Konyi

Ages 9 - 14

$145 for half day program

Combine with Electronic Music Production for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

Learn everything you need to start playing the guitar! Students in this class will learn the basic chords needed to play many popular songs. They will be introduced to all the foundational knowledge needed to start playing the guitar including the parts of the guitar, how to tune it, scale patterns, and basic strumming patterns. Students can learn on either acoustic or electric guitars. Participants should bring their own guitar to camp. Introduction to Electronic Music Production

August 14 - 18, 12:30 - 3:30

Instructor: Max Konyi

Ages 9 - 14

$150 for half day program

Combine with Beginner Guitar for full day program (lunch supervision provided)

Participants will begin using garage band to become familiar with a basic approach to creating electronic music. Participants will use loops and samples to create their own music while gaining an understanding of the how to refine their sound. Students are required to have a laptop with the most up to date version of Garage Band and a pair of quality headphones. Please contact a SAM administrator if you need help sourcing an appropriate laptop or software. Register here. 


Beginner Violin Limited Availability

August 21 - 25,  9:00 - 12:00

Ages 6-9

$145 for half day program

Learn the basics of violin in a fun group ensemble! This class is an introduction to the violin and does not require any previous experience. Students need to provide their own violin. Please speak to a SAM administrator if you need help sourcing an instrument. Register here.

Rock Band FULL

August 28 - September 1, 12:30 - 3:30

Experience the exciting and creative process of selecting music, creating arrangements, performing, recording and becoming a band. Musicians (including vocalists) will learn the subtleties of working with an ensemble and have fun jamming with other musicians. A minimum of 2 years experience on their instrument is recommended, but all levels and abilities are welcome. Participants will receive personalized instruction and find their place in the band. Repertoire will be selected based on student interest and won’t necessarily be strictly rock. The group will explore their musical style and preference to work towards a performance at the end of the week. Guitarists and bassists should bring their own instrument to camp. Drummers, singers, guitar players, and keyboardists are welcome! Register here.
